Girls enjoy their final Riverwalk

Today was our final day in Reno, Nevada after a terrific month here. Cindy and Midge enjoyed their final walk along the Truckee Riverwalk.

Reno is a cool city — not too big but still kind of edgy (lotsa tattoo parlors, funky retro neighborhoods), beautiful and flat for extended walks, easy to get around and figure out where you are (north/south, east/west kind of layout), inexpensive and delicious eateries, plenty of parks, and best of all, friendly people and no panhandling anywhere!

Tomorrow morning we will begin the 900+ mile roadtrip north back to Sidney by the Sea, BC. After tons of walking and watching (the girls love to sit in their seat up front in the motorhome watching for cats!), Cindy and Midge will be ready to snooze and take in the sights as we head through California, Oregon and Washington states.

Here are a few photos of interesting yards we passed along the way this morning.

Desert dogs

Out for our dogwalk today in Reno and came across this desert howler dog, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to catch Cindy and Midge as desert dogs, too.

No, Cindy does not have an outdoor lamp growing out of her back; it is just her photo-challenged mother trying to get a good shot (didn’t even notice the photo faux pas until later!). Hey, have a howl!!!

Got any eats, Mom?!

No, Cindy and Midge are not usually allowed to sit up at the table like this, especially at meal times. But once in a while, the rules get bent and it looks so cute to see the two of them side by side and hoping for a little morsel!

They have been wonderful, really, traveling and staying in the relative confines of our motorhome. It is close quarters for the four of us, but we are managing just fine (there are exceptions — like when Allen came in from doing something outdoors earlier today and found Miss Midge standing right in the centre of the table! Oh no.).

Here’s another cute photos of the Reno Riverwalk girls!

Recycled tree seat

Along the banks of the Truckee River in Idlewood Park is a cool throne crafted from a downed tree; it was the perfect spot for Cindy, Midge and I to relax for a moment along the path.

There are some really huge, beautiful old trees in this park. Allen thinks they may be black poplar. Also in this park are some ponds (small lakes?) containing huuuuuge fish!
